Microsoft Zune Officially Jumps the Shark

At least according to woot!, who is once again offering the much-maligned Zune at its lowest price to date...just $129.99. That's even lower than the very impressive $149.99 they had less than a month ago.

Check out today's woot! entry for a Steve Jobs iPhone rebate parody as well...terrific stuff.

Ah, but we both know Microsoft's relentless spending when it comes to trying to become a player, and then a winner, in whatever new market they choose to enter. Zune v2 will likely be better, and then there's the "third time's a charm" v3 for any MS product. While I don't think they'll ever supplant the venerable, and now generically used "iPod", I know them well enough to know that they won't be backing down just 'cus v1 sucks.

Totally agree with ya, Greg. v2 will suck a little less, but still suck. v3 may actually be usable. Whether or not MS can ever catch up to Apple is an entirely different story; they don't tend to have as competent a competitor as Apple is in the markets they enter.
