Notepad++ Text Editor

Always on the lookout for good freeware and open source utilities, I stumbled upon Notepad++, a slick, full-featured text and source code editor for Windows environments. All the expected functions, such as search/replace, context-sensitive color-coding, etc. are included, and it seems pretty robust.

Give it a try.

cool. This is exactly what I've been looking for. a tabbed notepad. I'd been using keynote before, which is a robust outline-based tabbed notepad, with a sadly proprietary format.

Notepad++ is a best editor ever !

I agree with Bertrand HAMON :

It's much better than an expensive unstable IDE using a ugly property language (a pseudo Pascal) that I use.

Great app!
How can I replace my notepad by notepad++?

Posted by: Gille at March 7, 2006 4:08 PM

Gille, just set Notepad++ as the default editor for whatever file formats are set to be opened by Notepad. You do this in Tools:Folder Options:File Types in Windows Explorer. You *can* hack the registry to fully replace Notepad with Notepad++, but it's a PITA and has essentially the same effect.
