Switching from Verizon to T-Mobile

So, I'm planning on switching my cellular service from Verizon to T-Mobile. My Verizon contract expires on Monday, and my Treo 600 should be getting here in early March.

I've already confirmed with T-Mobile that I can port my Verizon number over, so that's fine.

Anybody have any reactions or recommendations regarding this switch? Good packages at T-Mobile? Interesting wireless data options I should consider?

Go for the unlimited GPRS .... it's only 19.95 per month !

I have a $59.99 voice plan with T-Mobile, and I have an unlimited GPRS plan for $20. Not sure if that same $20 data plan works with the Treo, but I imagine it should. They have better voice plans now.. I get 1000 minutes, nights/weekends free, and unlimited text messages.

I'd agree on the unlimited GPRS... not sure how many minutes you need, but you should be able to secure 3 day weekends as well.

I recently learned that basic web surfing is free on T-mobile. It's just basic wap on the phone, but when accessed via the zodiac, you can access any web page (except HTTPS). Only a few ports are open, like port 80, but thats good enough for surfing. Here's some more information:

tpancoast, This idea of free GPRS is way cool...first I've heard of it...but I'm confused. If the basic GPRS access (limited ports) is free, why is T-Mobile _selling_ $4.99/mo "HotSpot"-based Internet service with similarly limited ports? Anybody know?

As far as I know (and I don't know much) you would just be paying $5 for access to the t-zones web page. When I go to the internet on the phone, I just see an advertisement for the 'full' t-zones, but I can still enter a wap page to go to any site I want. Maybe they figure they will sell more internet if they give users a taste, but decided most users won't want to deal with it without a pretty front end. Maybe this is just a temporary loophole that they will close...

I am switching from Verizon to Sprint because of the much lower data charge ($15 vs $45) and the availability of the Treo. While Verizon has much better customer service and somewhat better coverage, these other factors weighed heavily. Verizon will be getting the Treo, but the higher cost is the issue.
