How to Put Original Graffiti on Your Graffiti 2 Palm OS Device

graffiti.gif
So you bought a new Palm OS PDA only to find out that Graffiti 2 is irritating the crap out of you. Wouldn't it be great to replace the Graffiti 2 multi-stroke characters with those classic unistroke ones from Graffiti? Well, Palm Infocenter has step-by-step instructions on how to do just that.

Here are the instructions, which were originally published by Brando, in a nutshell:

First, Using a file manager like FileZ, find these two files in the ROM on a PDA that has original Graffiti on it:
-- Graffiti Library.prc (30k)
-- Graffiti Library_enUS.prc (22k)

Second, beam those two files to the PDA on which you want original Graffiti to be installed.

Third, do a soft reset. That's it....you're done.

Additional information is located at the Palm Infocenter article, so give it a read.

Piloteers rejoice!! :)

Graffiti "Classic" vs. Jot Lite (aka Graffiti 2)? There's no question in my mind which is more efficient & elegant, and this now mitigates a serious reservation many experienced PDA users had regarding upgrading to the latest PalmOS handhelds.

A big question in my mind is whether this work-around will still work on forthcoming OS6 devices.

I am desperately searching for a way to restore the original graffiti to my Kyocera 7135. It uses OS 4.1. I followed the suggestions in the following article from Palmgear.com but it didn't work and I was unable to find the exact files described on the article. Can anyone tell me how to restore grafitti to my Kyocera, or who can?

Hi,

I just did the other way around:
I upgraded my TT with Graffiti2 (G2).
I do have a TT and a TT3 and use sometimes G1 other times G2 is confusing.

I decided to use only one of them.

Since G2 is "newer" in the PALM platform, I chose it (bad choice?).

I did the following:

1)Ran FILEZ 5.3.2 (freeware: www.nosleep.net):
1.a)clicked "View an edit files";
1.b)checked the "ROM" box (lower right);
1.c)Looked for:
1.c.1)Graffiti 2 Library (type Libr) and
1.c.2)Graffiti 2 Library_enUS (type ovly)
1.d)and Beamed them (you have to beam each one of them separately) from TT3 to TT;

2)Soft reseted TT;

3)THAT'S IT;

I'm now thinking now about doing the other way around,
as this page shows (using G1 in both TT and TT3) because of the following:

A)I got used to G1;

B)G1 has less 2 strokes characters;

C)Got furious when tried to write "L" followed by a space (" ")
- seems to be impossible: G2 recognizes it as a "T" (Try it out, guys!);

D)I use a lot ponctuation symbols like ";" (3 FREAKING STROKES ?!?!);

E)found out that PALM DID NOT release G2 as an evolution of G1 or whatever,
but because of copyright problems...

Hasta,

Zakk.

I'm so disapoint!
I loved graffiti 1.

Thanks for all.

We have tried from Palm IIIC (a french version OS 3.53) to Palm Tungsten E (multilingual version). We couldn't see files with "Graffiti library.prc" and "Graffiti library_frFR.prc", we have seen and beamed : Graffiti and Graffiti_frFR, so! And after a soft reset, i obtained a message that; graffiti is not compatible with this version of Palm OS 5.2.1

I'm so disapointed!
I really prefered graffiti 1.

Any more clue?

Thanks for all.
